چکیده

Various detailed models of cerebral circulation have been proposed, recently fostered by the hypothesized relationship between extracranial venous drainage impairment and neurodegenerative diseases. However, some basic model is missing, analogous to 2-element Windkessel (WK) systemic circulation. This theoretical study focuses, in simplest way, on dependence intracranial pressure (VP) pulsatility arterial WK resistance RV. The compliance shown exert an arteriovenous capacitive coupling (AV-CC), agumented RV increments. was estimated based (AP) flow (?ICA) waves open database 3325 virtual subjects. A normal imposing a mean VP 10 mmHg, doubled mimic hindered veins. AP transfer function showed: i) gain almost proportional RV; ii) zero slightly below heart rate (HR) corresponding pole; iii) mid-frequency derivative band up AV-CC pole, frequency which inversely iv) full at high frequencies, yet above pulse harmonic content, HR. In conclusion, besides well-known effect hindering VP, results this support hypothesis that abnormal veins may play significant role cerebrovascular imbalance related neurodegeneration.

Anomalous intracranial venous drainage mimicking orbital or cavernous arteriovenous fistula.

A 9-year-old child presented with right eye swelling and bluish discoloration over the periorbital region. MR and CT displayed prominent vessels within the orbit and in the facial region, suggesting a carotid-cavernous fistula. Doppler ultrasound indicated the vascular engorgement was not secondary to a proximal arteriovenous shunt. Arteriography with its inherent time sequence image capability...

Objective Venous Pulsatile Tinnitus

Pulsatile tinnitus usually means a turbulent flow within the vessels. We describe a 54-year-old man with a disabling objective pulsatile tinnitus due to a diverticulum of the sigmoid sinus toward the ipsilateral mastoid. We performed a surgical intervention via the endovascular route using coils to obliterate the diverticulum and a stent to avoid coil migration . The patient had a complete and ...

Windkessel model of hemodynamic state supported by a pulsatile ventricular assist device in premature ventricle contraction

BACKGROUND Counter-pulsation control (CPC) by ventricular assist devices (VADs) is believed to reduce cardiac load and increase coronary perfusion. However, patients with VADs have a higher risk of arrhythmia, which may cause the CPC to fail. Consequently, CPC has not been applied by VADs in clinical practice. The phase-locked loop (PLL) algorithm for CPC is readily implemented in VADs; however...

multiple intracranial dural arteriovenous fistula

dural arteriovenous fi stula (davf) is also known as dural arteriovenous malformation. two forms of davf have been introduced, however, here we present an exceptional case of davf with unique origin and drainage. in this study, we present a rare case of multiple davfs in a 50 year old man with right parietal intraparenchymal hemorrhage. mri showed two round right parieto-occipital masses with f...

Resolution of Pulsatile Tinnitus after Venous Sinus Stenting in Patients with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension

OBJECTIVE Evaluate the role of venous sinus stenting in the treatment of pulsatile tinnitus among patients with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) and significant venous sinus stenosis. SUBJECTS AND METHODS A written informed consent approved by the Weill Cornell institutional review board was signed and obtained from the study participants. Thirty-seven consecutive patients with IIH ...
